To prepare for a new era, with a transformation into a purely electric car company, Rolls-Royce has redesigned the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy (Flying Lady).
Rolls-Royce changes the Spirit of Ecstasy logo - 1
In the world of cars, the Spirit of Ecstasy on the front of a Rolls-Royce is one of the most famous icons, and it now gives a new look to the brand's entry into the electric vehicle era.
The first Rolls-Royce to bear the new Spirit of Ecstasy emblem will be the Specter electric car. Its design is tied to its electrified future.
Rolls-Royce says this emblem is newly designed in both form and aerodynamics. Instead of standing upright, leaning both hips and feet, the new logo has a design of "catching the wind, with one foot inched forward, body low".
The new icon is 82.73 mm tall, while the old one is 100.01 mm tall. In addition, the cape (not a wing as many people mistakenly believe) flying behind the woman's arm has been reshaped to increase aerodynamics, looking more like a cape than a wing like the old design.
It can be seen that, right from the Spirit of Ecstasy symbol, aerodynamics has been enhanced. The simple reason is that with electric cars, aerodynamics is especially important. Rolls-Royce says the current Specter prototype has a drag coefficient of just 0.26, making it the most aerodynamic vehicle ever made by Rolls-Royce. This parameter is expected to be even lower when the final design is finalized for the actual production version.
This new icon comes after 830 hours of designing and testing in the wind tunnel. Instead of drawing it on paper or creating an actual shape, this Spirit of Ecstasy logo was designed using computer digital modeling software. As such, the creation of this icon will continue to be completed manually after the casting process. The manual finishing process means that even in the computer age, Rolls-Royce ensures that each icon will still have distinct details. That is also what makes the company's unique value.
Rolls-Royce said that the new version of the Spirit of Ecstasy emblem will appear on all new models of the company in the future, while the current design will still be used for Phantom, Ghost, Wraith, Dawn models. and Cullinan.
